1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official records and cannot retrieve a record, conduct an official background check, or submit a filing for a user.

The site identifies custodians for Hancock County criminal records, including the sheriff, local courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry. Tennessee government access is separately governed by the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§10-7-501 through 10-7-518, while T.C.A. §38-6-120 applies to TBI criminal-history checks. Neither law makes this site a public office or official repository.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on an agreement not to:

• Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against site pages
• Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate a person with information found here
• Interfere with site availability or another visitor's access
• Use site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
• Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
• Violate any applicable federal, Tennessee, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Misuse may also be criminal. The Tennessee Sexual Offender and Violent Sexual Offender Registration, Verification and Tracking Act, T.C.A. §§40-39-201 through 40-39-218, controls Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry information and provides penalties for prohibited misuse. Registry access supports public safety, not vigilantism, employment blacklisting, or housing discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, consumer reports, or background checks. Its advertising partners likewise do not offer site services designed to screen applicants, evaluate renters, set insurance terms, or judge creditworthiness. Information from the site or a linked tool may not be used to:

• Evaluate eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
• Set insurance premiums or assess creditworthiness
• Screen renters or other housing applicants
• Make hiring or termination decisions
• Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A check needed for a regulated purpose must be obtained through an authorized Tennessee Bureau of Investigation process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Although it describes Hancock County record processes, it cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to a specific matter. Individual advice must come from a Tennessee-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All site content and functions are provided "as is." We make no warranty that:

• Partner search results will be complete or correct
• Pages will be free from errors, defects, or security weaknesses
• Site access will remain uninterrupted
• Any information will be accurate, complete, or current

Criminal records can change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, or expunged. Information may therefore contain gaps or become outdated. No statement on this site is an official representation from a sheriff, court, or other government agency.

Links may lead to sheriff pages, courts, Tennessee agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search services. Following a link leaves this site for a service we do not control. We are not responsible for an outside provider's availability, content, prices, or data practices. Its own terms govern its service.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on this site belong to Hancock County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, adapted, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the site, including reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, actions, or demands caused by your use of the site or a violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be brought in a court located in Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

14. Severability
