Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a message is submitted to us, we retain it as needed to answer and manage the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems may automatically receive standard technical details about the visit:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Hancock County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Hancock County sheriff and courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal histories.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes found on this site. Information entered there is handled under the provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, which are beyond our control. Its policy should be reviewed before a query is submitted.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Hancock County offices, Tennessee agencies, court resources, legal-aid services, and outside search providers. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy controls that visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. We do not operate that tracking.

We do not sell personal data. Information may nevertheless be disclosed to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when a valid legal order compels disclosure

We use customary security measures intended to protect collected data. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a data breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Verified information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed as required.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data depend on the law that applies to the visitor and the data. The Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§10-7-501 through 10-7-518, governs access to qualifying state and local government records; it does not convert this private site's visitor data into a Hancock County public record. T.C.A. §38-6-120 governs TBI criminal-history checks and does not make this site a TBI repository. Where applicable law grants a right, a person may:
- Opt out of a covered form of data processing
- Request deletion of covered personal data
- Seek correction of inaccurate personal information
- Request access to covered personal data
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised from time to time. Any replacement becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date.
